Presentation Abstract:
The Carver County Child Protection Assessment Team presents case examples using Signs of Safety techniques in frontline situations. Each of the four workers will focus on a piece of their best case work showing the work and discussing how it was beneficial to the case, family and worker in building safety.
Presentation Description:
Carver County Child Protection Assessment Workers have grown in their social work practice through the implementation of Signs of Safety. We also recognize how the families we serve have benefited from our work by increasing their confidence in their ability to safely parent their children.
The four Carver County Assessment Workers will each present a case example using Signs of Safety techniques from their frontline work, investigating reports of child abuse and neglect.
A PowerPoint will incorporate safety networks, emergency safety planning, the use of Three Houses/Wizards and Fairies and will be presented using actual examples from casework. Workers will share an explanation of how the techniques were used to build safety in frontline situations. Workers will also discuss how the use of Signs of Safety practices has impacted their work with families.
The Department for Child Protection in West Australia has chosen November 12, 13 and 14, 2012 for its second Signs of Safety Gathering. All 23 districts from around the state will present as well as three international presentations. This Gathering will provide an end-to-end picture of a comprehensive system-wide Signs of Safety implementation. Participants from overseas and elsewhere in Australia are welcome though places will be limited.
