Join licensed Signs of Safety Trainer and Consultant Manna Slot as she conducts the second 2-day Signs of Safety conference in the German-speaking area. Anyone from German-speaking countries who works with — or wants to work with — the Signs of Safety approach is very welcome.
The Signs of Safety approach is a strengths- and resource-based approach to child protection. Co-created by Professor Andrew Turnell in Australia, Signs of Safety supports professionals in showing an appreciative attitude towards families and their perspectives while at the same time emphasising and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the child in the process.
Day 1: Presentations
The first day of the conference is for presentations of the ‘best practice’ examples from various institutions (youth welfare offices, voluntary organisations etc) of their work with Signs of Safety. The aim is an exchange of idea, experiences and the establishment of networks in German-speaking countries.
Day 2: Workshops
The second day of the conference has 4 workshops for growth and learning:
Workshop A: Sabien de Klerck, an experienced licensed Signs of Safety trainer from Belgium and an experienced colleague from the youth welfare office in Biberach discuss the subject of networks. This workshop will be held in English with German translation.
Workshop B: Managers of the youth welfare offices in Böblingen and Biberach will report on their experiences with the implementation of Signs of Safety.
Workshop C: Colleagues from the youth welfare office in Antwerp, Belgium, will report on their 10-year journey with Signs of Safety and its implementation in cooperation with independent organisations through joint training and joint practice.
Workshop D: Marieke Vogel, an experienced licensed Signs of Safety Trainer and Consultant, and Regional Director of Elia from The Netherlands offers a workshop on “Words and Pictures”. This workshop will be held in English with German translation.
