Signs of Safety Feedback in Song, and in Welsh!

In November, Signs of Safety Consultants Viv Hogg (from the UK) and Marion Henneman (from The Netherlands) delivered a 5-day advanced Signs of Safety course in Swansea, Wales. During their preparations, Marion told Viv that when she had run a similar course recently in the Netherlands, on the second and subsequent mornings they got the participants into four big groups at the start of each day and asked them to talk together about what they had learned and what their biggest questions were. They were then asked to prepare a short presentation about what they had come up with to the large group (one presentation per day) and they were encouraged to be as creative, funny and poetic as possible.

Of course being in Wales, three of the groups put their presentations into song and although they were all wonderful, this one was pretty special. The last verse is sung in Welsh.

Here are the words:

On day 3, we were all learning
How to plan with families
Asking questions, strengths and safety
They are different now we see

Signs of safety we have practiced
Danger statements, safety goals
Safety plans and words and pictures
Scaling questions we now know

We were listening to Garfield
And his friends in Wester Aus
Now we all know that the Goldfields
Is now great against all odds

Signs of Safety we have practiced
Danger statements, safety goals
Safety plans and words and pictures
Scaling questions we now know

So now for our biggest question
Viv and Marion you’ll see
That we want to know how we can
Start to write trajectories

Signs of safety we have practiced
Danger statements, safety goals
Safety plans and words and pictures
Scaling questions we now know

Calon lân yn llawn daioni,
Tecach yw na’r lili dlos:
Dim ond calon lân all ganu-
Canu’r dydd a chanu’r nos.
