Cynthia McLeod has been working in the field of child welfare for 13 years in the Province of Ontario, first as a front line investigative child protection worker and then as ongoing family worker. She has been in a leadership role since 2011 supervising telephone Intake, Investigations, Child and Family Support and most recently Children in Care. Her last few years of leadership have been supervising a team with high risk teens in foster and kin care — the most vulnerable youth struggling with addiction, mental illness, suicide and moving to independence.

Cynthia was introduced to Andrew Turnell and the Signs of Safety community in 2010 and hasn’t looked back since! Since 2010, she has taken every opportunity to dig in to the work and attend trainings, gatherings and has presented internationally on leadership implementation. She continues to deepen her own leadership practice and development of child welfare practitioners under her leadership and agency wide. In 2019, she became a licensed Signs of Safety trainer. She continues to co-lead implementation work in her organization and firmly believes in the success that Signs of Safety and Signs of Something practice has brought children, youth and families.
